Fathers and Daughters Get Red Carpet Treatment at Annual Dance

The Third Annual Fair Haven Father Daughter Dance was held Saturday, February 19th at The Raven and the Peach. 

This event, sponsored by the Fair Haven Parks and Recreation Department, was an enormous success, with over 200 fathers and daughters in attendance.  The Dance was open to girls in grades 1 through 6, and it quickly sold out.  

Upon arrival, the girls and their Dads walked down a Red Carpet, designed to emulate a Hollywood award evening.  Ten members of the Rumson Fair Haven Key Club volunteered to coordinate this portion of the evening, interviewing the girls as they arrived.  As Elizabeth, escorted by her father Mark, proudly announced “I got my dress from Macy's!” 

The girls and Dads were treated to a three course meal, a prom style picture and a special gift. Throughout the night, everyone danced to the sounds of Fair Haven’s own DJ Dave McCann. 

Charlie Hoffman, Director of the Parks and Recreation Department said, “This event has really become a highlight for these girls, and it is exciting to see them light up when treated to the red carpet treatment.”

On the red carpet, on dad said, “My daughter looks forward to this event all year.  Every time we pass the Raven and the Peach, she asks me when the dance is.”  

“This is one of the most successful events we have all year,"  said Kerry Pridgen, the events coordinator. "It is always great to see how much fun the girls have to be so dressed up and out for an evening with their dads.”

As the girls were leaving, they were each presented with a beautiful flower.  This Annual Father Daughter Dance provided an excellent chance for the fathers to bond with the daughters while creating memories certain to last for a lifetime.
