Falling into a Pile of Fall Events Saturday

Saturday is flush with events in the Rumson-Fair Haven area

Fall is in the air; and, along with the piles of leaves raining down on the area is a cache of free seasonal events, most all in one day in the Rumson-Fair Haven area — Saturday.

From morning until late afternoon, fall festivals, a reunion, dedication and car show will pepper the two boroughs.

• The Environmental Club at the high school will host its second annual FALLFEST from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the high school’s front football field. The event will feature vendors offering fresh, organic products as well as crafts, jewelry, healthy smoothies, ice cream, local honey and more.

• The Scholastic Book Fair will be hosted at Deane-Porter Elementary School on Saturday.

Abby Daly, of the non-profit Bridge of Books, is running the event.

There will be readings and book collections to benefit the Red Bank Head Start Program and Asbury Park Boys and Girls Club. For more information, check out Bridge of Books at its Web site: http://www.bridgeofbooksfoundation.org.

In the afternoon …

• The annual Fair Haven PTA's Harvest Fest at Knollwood School will at 12:30 p.m. and run through 4:30 on the playing fields and blacktop in the back of the school. There will be food, face-painting, a host of activities and seasonal goodies and crafts for sale.

• Rumson Mayor John Ekdahl and the Borough Council will be dedicating the Meadow Ridge Park, Ridge Road, at 1 p.m. in the name of former Mayor Charles "Chuck" Paterno. Paterno. A doctor in the area for many years, Paterno died in 2010 after having served as mayor in Rumson for the longest consecutive time period on record.

All weekend long …

• The Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Class of 1962 is having its 50th reunion, which will last all weekend long. The alumni group will attend Friday night’s home football game, then get together at Molly Maguire’s. On Saturday, the Class of ’62 will head over Bingham Hall in the morning for a light lunch and video tour of their old haunts. Then it will be on to the main reunion event at the Rumson Country Club and then to a send-off breakfast on Sunday morning.

Patch will try very hard to catch up with these R-FHers.

In the meantime, welcome back, R-FH Class of ’62! Enjoy!

See you all around town tomorrow! If we don't get to you, please send us your photos and we will gladly post them!
