Fair Haven Neighbors Show Love and Support by Delivering Homemade Meals
A group of Fair Haven friends ban together to help feel the Levine Family the week after the birth of their beautiful baby girl.
Here's the recipe for the brisket. It was made by Carolyn Dean. Carolyn has shared her adapted the recipe to her taste. The original recipe she used is from Channel 7 "Mr. Food" shown on February 10, 1989.

¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ cup onion, chopped
1 green pepper, sliced
½ cup raisins
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 (20 oz ) can unsweetened apple slices, drained (note: I use the recommended real peeled slice apples)
Put brisket into a large pot or baking pan. Add water, soy sauce and black pepper; cover. Simmer 2-1/2 to 3 hours. Add onion, green pepper, raisins, brown sugar and apple slices. Simmer 30 to 40 minutes longer. Remove brisket and slice. Serve with sauce from cooking pan poured over meat (I thicken sauce slightly with cornstarch/water). Makes 10 servings.
Note: Suggest substituting a couple of fresh sliced apples rather than canned. Can also add a touch of hot sauce or garlic to “heat up” the recipe.
