Community Basketball Tournament Raises Money for Local Youths

The Hoops for Horizons Basketball tournament raised money for the summer Horizons Student Enrichment Program on March 9 and 10.

Local basketball players showed off their skills to benefit the Horizons Enrichment Program during the Hoops for Horizons Basketball Tournament.

The hosted the tournament where over 40 teams between the ages of 10 and 39 participated. Despite the competitive nature amongst age groups, all tournament participants helped out in-need Red Bank youths with their time spent on the court.

“The Horizons Student Enrichment Tournament is a six week summer program that works with Red Bank students between the ages of kindergarten and eighth grade,” explained Horizon Board Member, Laura Whisnand. “This tournament is all about how the community is working together to benefit the community.”

Some school teams that participated in the tournament were from,, , Red Bank Middle School, Frank Antonides, Markham Place, Cedar Drive, Rumson Country Day School, Ranney, Monmouth Hills, , Blair Academy and the Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County.

With the community coming together to benefit in-need Red Bank youth, the award-winning academic and recreational Horizon program will continue to benefit Red Bank students that are living in low-income circumstances.
