Bringing Back Sea Bright Bus Stop

Anyone who knows Sea Bright knows that the bus stop there has always been a unique downtown focal point — until Hurricane Sandy.

The storm wiped out what had become an iconic, artistic shelter to shield those waiting for a bus from inclement weather.

For a few months now, Sea Bright Rising has had volunteers piecing it all back together again.

It's pretty much complete, minus some inside finishing touches and the artistry of Megan Heath Gilhool, who transformed the little stop into what looked like a little summer cottage in November of 2011, with painted curtains on the windows, a faux couch, bookshelves, flowers and more adorning the walls and seat in acrylics.

It was known as the unofficial Welcome to Sea Bright center.

Take a look at the photos above to see some shots of the stop with Gilhool's art and revival since Sandy. She will be back in the spring to make the stop a cottage again.
