A Sign of Modern Times in Fair Haven

The borough's new welcome sign has been erected. Tell us what you think of it; and, send us or upload your old sign photos.

It's a sign of more modern times. The now 100-year-old borough of has a new welcome sign.

Patch caught a glimpse of one at the corner of Fair Haven and Ridge roads. Word on the street is that some like it and many don't, favoring the more traditional, old-time-feel signs that have hung at the entrances to the 1.7-square-mile town.

The new sign is navy blue, bearing the borough's steam-featured logo and crafted of composite, weather-resistant materials.

Then there were wooden navy blue signs that were vandalized and stolen.

The original was light blue and featured a much larger depiction of the Albertina, one of the steam ships that used to travel the Fair Haven waterways and dock at its shores.

People have favored the original, calling it more traditional and in keeping with the town's quaint atmosphere. Some think the new sign has a more crisp, modern appeal. What do you think?
