A Balderose Birthday and Opening

It was Balderose Fine Foods Owner Tony Balderose's birthday on Friday. It was also his eatery's grand opening — or reopening.

"It was a great day," Balderose told Patch in the late afternoon at the shop at the corner of River and Fair Haven roads. "We were very busy."

Balderose said the top seller of the day was his soup ... and sandwiches ...

And, he said, a favorite is his Chicken Milanese.

The shop is fully stocked with specialty items and homemade goodies, including organic nuts and juices.

Balderose has a new partner. He's thrilled to be back and says he's cooking up some new dishes and keeping the traditional successes going.

We had a taste of the homemade red bliss potato salad and it was mighty good.

Happy Birthday, Tony! And congrats on your reopening!
