Canterbury Art Show

St. George's-by-the-River Church announced its annual Canterbury Art Show...a Tapestry of the Arts, a premier local exhibition and sale of juried and non-juried artwork. The three-day event will take place Friday, September 20 from 10am to 5pm, Saturday, September 21 from 10am to 6pm and Sunday, September 22 from 12pm to 4pm. A special Meet the Artist reception will take place Friday evening from 6pm to 8pm and on Saturday evening a Tapestry of the Arts Reception will take place from 7pm to 9pm. The event will take place at St. George's-by-the-River church, 7 Lincoln Avenue, Rumson.

More than four-hundred attendees enjoyed the first-ever Canterbury Art Show in September, 2012, and over 600 works by almost 70 artists from all over New Jersey and beyond were displayed and sold. "We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community," said Canterbury Art Show chair Coni Lefferts. "Last year's event was a huge success, both in terms of attendees and receipts, which was so gratifying." All proceeds from the Art Show directly benefit St. George's- by-the-River and its Outreach Grants to more than 30 local agencies serving the needy of Monmouth and Ocean counties, including Lunch Break, Family Promise, HABcore, 180 Turning Lives Around and more.

This year's Jury will include well-known local artists and gallery owners. Chuck Peters is the owner of CT Peters Appraisal Service in Red Bank. Established in 1976, CT Peters provides appraisal services for art, furnishings, silver and estate jewelry. Erik Johansen has been a member of the Brookdale Community College faculty for 25 years. He is a multi- artist and award-winning exhibitor. Carol Lynn Chetkin is the co-owner of Red Bank's Chetkin Gallery. She and her husband Donald established the gallery in 1987 with the hope of creating an international fine art gallery with a special emphasis on contemporary European painters.
