Twin sisters, Caroline & Emily Harris, who are seniors at Colts Neck High School, are co-chairing a charity 5k run/walk fundraiser to benefit research for a very rare disease called, Eosinophilic (E-o-sin-o-fill-ic) Gastritis. Along with their friends, fellow classmates and faculty, they are organizing this first annual 5k event at their Colts Neck High School on October 12, 2013. There will be live music, food and local vendors to make their 5k fundraiser a fun-filled day for the whole family. 1st, 2nd & 3rd place prizes will be awarded for those winners too.

Eosinophilic Gastritis (EG) is a very rare disease where Eosinophils, a type of white blood cell, causes severe pain & injury with internal bleeding to the stomach and intestines. A whole host of medical issues result. The cause is unknown. Minimal research has been done on this disease, mostly due to lack of funding.

Caroline & Emily are teaming up with the the Giving Hope Program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital where 100% of all donations will go directly to a designated research center for Eosinophilic Gastritis to find a cure, to turn that unknown into a known.

Some says twins do everything together, and yes, these sisters are definitely guilty of that!! From playing guitars and singing in their band, "Stealing  Jade", to sharing almost every single class in school since kindergarten, they are really always there to back each other up. Sadly, though, Caroline has been diagnosed with this painful disease that has has left her quite ill.  And so, they have decided to be "proactive together" in bringing attention to (EG) in hopes to find a cure for Caroline, and others too who suffer with this miserable illness.
