AWARD-WINNING ARTIST DONALD VOORHEES WILL BE A JURIED ARTIST IN UPCOMING CANTERBURY ART SHOW…A TAPESTRY OF THE ARTS

St. George's-by-the-River Church announced that award-winning Water Color Painter Donald Voorhees will take part in the Canterbury Art Show…a Tapestry of the Arts, a premiere local exhibition and sale of juried and non-juried artwork.  The three-day event featuring the work of over 80 artists will take place Friday, September 20 from  10am to 5pm, Saturday September 21 from 10am to 6pm and Sunday, September 22 from 12pm to 4pm at St. George's-by-the-River church, 7 Lincoln Avenue, Rumson.

Donald Voorhees has been recognized from coast to coast for his outstanding contribution to art and is the recipient of over 100 awards from such prestigious organizations as the Hudson Valley Art Association, the Salmagundi Club of New York City and the New Jersey Water Color Society. He has been cited for his work by the State of New Jersey.  The artist’s works have been shown in museums throughout the country, and his works are owned by many banks, corporations and public institutions throughout the country. Prints from his Americana Series hang in schools, government offices and the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge. Mr. Voorhees is a member, as well as former president, of the New Jersey Watercolor Society, the Salmagundi Club and other professional organizations. He is listed in “Who’s Who in American Art,” “Who’s Who in the East,” and the “Dictionary of International Biography.” 

Three of Mr.Voorhees' works will be displayed as part of the Juried group of work: "Greek Harbor," "Summer Reflections" and "Incoming Tide."  Mr. Voorhees will also be painting in the St. George's Close on the grounds of the Church on Friday, September 20, as an "artist at work."

All proceeds from the Canterbury Art Show directly benefit St. George's-by-the-River and its Outreach Grants to more than 30 local agencies serving the needy of Monmouth and Ocean counties.

Tickets to the Canterbury Art Show can be purchased in advance on the event website www.canterburyartshow.com or at the door each day.  Daytime show tickets are $10 each and are good for all days of the show.  Tickets to the Friday, September 20 Meet the Artists reception and Saturday, September 21 Tapestry of the Arts reception are $40 in advance and $50 at the door.  Purchase of a reception ticket for either night provides the purchaser with free entry to the show every day.
