10U Fair Haven Diamonds Win Championship

The 10U Fair Haven Diamonds won their United States Amateur Baseball League Championship game 9-4 over the Jersey Shore Thunder on June 22.

Capping off an 8-1 regular season, the Diamonds got strong pitching performances over the weekend from Scott Gyimesi, Shay Addison, Luke Ronayne and Joey Gotch to win their first USABL title. The Thunder got a solid pitching effort from Cole Armond who battled over five innings.

Taking a 4-3 lead into the 5th inning, the Diamonds got back-to-back doubles from Robbie Thomson and Matt Fernandez to take a comfortable lead. Joey Gotch closed out the game with two strikeouts and the Diamonds celebrated a great win. Head coach Rafe Fernandez commented "pitching depth is important to us and seeing four of our boys throw 20 strikeouts in 12 innings over the weekend is exciting."
