Teachers' Convention & WWII Show

It's what's going on in the Rumson-Fair Haven area on Thursday.

Happy Thursday, friends and fans. It's almost weekend time.

Until then, though, there are a few things going on.

Around the towns today …

• It's the first day of the NJEA teachers' convention, so school is out for today and tomorrow. The kids are home. So, it's either time for a day trip, a local outing or, maybe, just lounging around.

• The Fair Haven Zoning Board meets tonight at 7:15 p.m.

• The Monmouth County Library in Shrewsbury Township is featuring a World War II tribute with a performance by the Traveling Library Theater of the songs of the war era and readings of excerpts of letters from vets serving.
The performance is free and starts at 7 p.m.

• Next door in Red Bank it's Comedy Night at the Dublin House on Monmouth Street starting at 8 p.m.

• We'll feature a Throwback Thursday item later in the day.

Weather, sun, moon and tides …

• It's supposed to be a rainy day today, with mild temperatures in the high 50s.

• Here's your sun, moon and tide information for the day, courtesy of www.tides4fishing.com:

"The sun will rise in Sea Bright at 6:34 a.m. and sunset will be at 4:45 p.m. The moon will rise in the southeast (115º) at 10:40 am and will set in the southwest (247º) at 8:54 p.m.

"In the high tide and low tide chart, we can see that the first low tide will be at 5:11 a.m. and the next low tide at 5:59 p.m. The only high tide of the day will be at 11:33 a.m.

"The lunar phase is a Waxing Crescent. Today we will have 10 hours and 11 minutes of sun. The solar transit will be at 11:40 a.m. and the length of time the moon will be visible will be 10 hours and 14 minutes.

In the meantime, check out what's featured this morning and I'll see you around the towns
