Sunny Start to a Busy R-FH Area Weekend

It's what's going on in the area today and through the weekend.

Happy Friday, friends and fans!

Well, it looks like we're getting another day of local summer, with sunny skies and temperatures reaching a high of 78 degrees. But, the weather troll, uh, National Weather Service is forecasting a 20 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms on Saturday and a 50 percent chance of rain on Sunday.

For that chance that the sun will shine through, here's the tide table for today through the weekend:

2013-09-20  4:31 PM EDT  -0.27 feet  Low Tide
2013-09-20  6:55 PM EDT   Sunset
2013-09-20 10:35 PM EDT   3.88 feet  High Tide
2013-09-21  4:44 AM EDT  -0.32 feet  Low Tide
2013-09-21  6:42 AM EDT   Sunrise
2013-09-21 10:58 AM EDT   4.00 feet  High Tide
2013-09-21  5:16 PM EDT  -0.16 feet  Low Tide
2013-09-21  6:54 PM EDT   Sunset
2013-09-21 11:21 PM EDT   3.68 feet  High Tide
2013-09-22  5:25 AM EDT  -0.15 feet  Low Tide
2013-09-22  6:43 AM EDT   Sunrise

2013-09-22  6:01 PM EDT   0.01 feet  Low Tide
2013-09-22  6:52 PM EDT   Sunset

And, as you can see, the full moon is on the wane. So here's some moon and sun information for the day from www.tides4fishing.com:

"The moon set at 7:54 am at 278º west. Eventually, the moon will rise again in the east (79º) at 7:28 p.m. … The lunar phase is a Waning Gibbous. Today we have 12 hours and 13 minutes of sun. The solar transit is at 12:49 pm and the length of time the moon will be visible will be 12 hours and 26 minutes."

Ugh to the thought of rain this weekend. Well, if it rains on Sunday, then Red Bank's Guinness Oyster Festival will be postponed. We'll see, though.

In addition to the Oyster Festival, there's a lot going on in the R-FH area.

• The Rumson PTO is having its Fall Festival today from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in back of Forrestdale School.
