Rumson DPW Toy Drive & Santa at Fair Haven Firehouse this Weekend

It's what's going on in the Rumson-Fair Haven area Friday and through the weekend.

Happy Friday, friends and fans!

Yes, the weekend has arrived … sort of. There are lots of things going on in the area, too.

Around the towns today and through the weekend …

• Oh, it's $5 Fridays at The Cheese Cave on Monmouth Street in Red Bank. Darn good deal, I'm thinking. The folks there give you samples with appropriate pairings starting at 5 p.m.

Wind in the Willows Christmas opens at the Two River Theater in Red Bank. See the next item.

• For events that are happening in the area this weekend, check our handy guide by clicking here.

There's one thing we forgot, though. Santa is coming to the Fair Haven Firehouse on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. Yay! OK, I'm a little partial to the Santa at the firehouse tradition.

Send us your pics, proud parents, and we'll post them all in our gallery of kids with Santa. Tell us some of the things they said to him that were funny, too. That's should be interesting. Always is, because kids do say the darnedest things. Send it all on over to elaine.develde@patch.com.

• Just a reminder to get your toys over to the Rumson DPW tonight and Saturday during the day for those kids — and there are so many — in need. We will be featuring a story on that in a bit. Stay tuned.

• For events outside of the immediate area, check out our Monmouth County round-up by clicking here.

• And, if you were thinking of heading a bit further south, check out the round-up of events from our kin in the Jersey Shore Patch region.

Weather, sun, moon and tides …

• It's supposed to be a tad bit warmer today, closer to the mid-30s, with clear skies. Let's see if it warms more.

• And for your mystical moon, sun and tide tidbits, click here. Interesting stuff, such as the phase of the moon and the amount of sunlight and moonlight time, where they're rising and setting.

We're on the hunt for some fun holiday video fodder. And we have some updates coming.

If we've missed anything, let us know. In the meantime, I'll see you around the towns.
