Jazz in the Park, Superman, Dolphin Demise

It's what's going on in the Rumson-Fair Haven area on Thursday.

Well, R-FH area friends and fans, it's Thursday, it's supposed to be a bit muggy and there's a chance of thunderstorms. Thanks, weather troll.

The moon was still pretty "bella luna" glowing and waning from full last night, though. It's called a waning gibbous. Yes, a waning gibbous. And how's your waning gibbous today? OK, onward.

Here's the tide table for Sea Bright, in case you need it for some reason today or are just curious:

2013-08-22  6:13 AM EDT   Sunrise
2013-08-22 10:39 AM EDT   3.98 feet  High Tide
2013-08-22  4:51 PM EDT  -0.33 feet  Low Tide
2013-08-22  7:42 PM EDT   Sunset
2013-08-22 10:59 PM EDT   4.09 feet  High Tide
2013-08-23  5:14 AM EDT  -0.50 feet  Low Tide
2013-08-23  6:14 AM EDT   Sunrise

And here's some interesting sun and moon information from www.tides4fishing.com:
"The lunar phase is a Waning Gibbous. Today we will have 13 hours and 28 minutes of sun. The solar transit will be at 12:59 pm and the length of time the moon will be visible will be 8 hours and 0 minutes."

It'll be a nice moon for Jazz in the Park at Riverside Gardens Park in Red Bank at 7:30 p.m.

Well, there's not much going on today in the way of events and activities, so we'll point you to the news …

Be sure to check out our pics of the prep for Superman's 75th birthday celebration with Kevin Smith's Comic Book Men reality show.

And check the site for more news about the upcoming Fair Haven Firemen's Fair, a dolphin that washed ashore in Sea Bright, the fate of Ed Segall's Sea Gulls' Nest on Sandy Hook and more.

Caption the photo? Sure, sure. Well, if you don't feel like writing one in the comment box below, at least think it. It could be fun. Really, you won't want me to do it, but I may just have to soon.

In the meantime, see you around the towns …
