Farewell Mrs. Dexter, More Cravin' Haven, Reading Therapy Dog & Drumming

It's what's going on in the Rumson-Fair Haven area on Tuesday.

Happy Tuesday, R-FH area folks.

Many are saddened to hear of the death of Mrs. Dexter, a longtime Fair Havenite who was an aide in the RFH library back in the day (in the 70s). A good lady with a memorable smile, blue eyes and a sardonic wit that's hard to forget.

Rest in peace, Mrs. Dexter. Anyone who would like to send us photos and/or comment, please send an email to elaine.develde@patch.com so we can put something together in memory of her.

Cravin Haven is open and the food is flowing. Check out our story and stay tuned for some on-site photos of those wild sandwiches and fun in the first few days there.

Well, the weather forecast is looking more mild today temperature-wise, and there are a few things to do.

Around the towns today …

• Tuesday is the day to read with Benny the dog at Oceanic Free Library in Rumson. He's a reading therapy dog. The program is for children 5 to 8 and begins at 3:30 p.m.

• There's a conversation with Jane Pauley and Tom Brokaw being live streamed  from New York to the Count Basie Theatre next door in Red Bank starting at 8:15 p.m. Click here for more info.

• There's also a free drumming circle, open to anyone, at the Monmouth County Library in Shrewsbury Township. It starts at 6:30 p.m.

Weather, sun, moon and tides tidbits …

• Uh, oh! Here comes that rain again … According to the National Weather Service, it's going to be a bit warmer, with a high of 50 degrees, but there's an 80 percent chance of rain today.

• That moon is looking' full. So, for all the info you need to know about the phase of the moon, time of sun and risings and settings, click here.

We have some business updates, police news and features coming.

In the meantime, I'll see you around the towns ...
