Bill Cosby, Cheese & the Weekend

It's what's going on in the Rumson-Fair Haven area Friday through the weekend.

Happy Friday, friends and fans!

Well, election week is over, yet some campaigns are still going strong. And the weekend has just about arrived.

Find out right here what's going on today and through the weekend in the area.

Around the towns  …

• If you're in a cheesy mood, don't forget that the Cheese Cave, on Monmouth Street in Red Bank, has its $5 Fridays. For five bucks you can sample cheese and pairings and socialize. It starts at 5 p.m.

• Speaking of festive samplings, Sickles Market is having its Holiday Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight. It will feature demonstrations, samples and raffles.

• Bill Cosby is at the Count Basie tonight and there's an Art Alliance opening we told you about yesterday. Click here for more information on both. And check out our round-up of events in and beyond the area and throughout the county by clicking here.

• We are late on our Throwback Thursday item, and had no room to fit it in the top six stories with all the extra election news, so we'll feature something fun today.

• There will be Veterans Day ceremonies in both Rumson and Fair Haven on Monday. More on that later.

Weather, tides, sun and moon tidbits …

• Well, it's not raining, but it is a bit brisk out with clear skies. The National Weather Service says that the weather will remain clear through the weekend, with temperatures reaching a high in the mid-50s.

• Here's your daily dose of sun, moon and tide information for the closest oceanfront area in Sea Bright, courtesy of www.tides4fishing.com:

"The sun will rise in Sea Bright at 6:35 a.m. and sunset will be at 4:44 p.m. The moon will rise in the southeast (111º) at 11:28 a.m. and will set in the southwest (251º) at 10:03 p.m.

"In the high tide and low tide chart, we can see that the first high tide will be at 12:11 a.m. and the next high tide at 12:34 p.m. The first low tide will be at 6:07 a.m. and the next low tide at 6:56 p.m.

"The lunar phase is a Waxing Crescent. Today we will have 10 hours and 9 minutes of sun. The solar transit will be at 11:40 a.m. and the length of time the moon will be visible will be 10 hours and 35 minutes."

If we've missed anything, let us know. In the meantime, have a great weekend and I'll see you around the towns …
