In less than two weeks time, two sixth graders have raised over $2000 for Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale No Kid Hungry event.
In a previous Patch article readers learned how a simple lemonade stand manned by Sophia Shea, 11, of Highlands, and Kristina Taylor, 12, of Rumson, turned into a vehicle to help stop childhood hunger. Following their Saturday, April 21 bake sale on Ward Road, the Barefoot Beach Bakers reported that they raised another thousand dollars to stop childhood hunger.
In an email written by Taylor’s mother Kathryn Taylor, on Saturday the girls brought in $821.50. That amount, combined with online donations has brought the girls’ grand total earnings to $2002.65.
