Seniors Still Snowed In

Looking for someone to help plow them out.

Many senior citizens are still snowed in their homes two days after the big storm that pounded Rumson and Fair Haven with almost two feet of snow.

A realtor from Fair Haven Homes said in an e-mail, "There are still so many senior citizens that have not been plowed out.  After several days indoors, many are running short on supplies."

She said she tried to call a variety of contractors and plow companies to hire them to help them get out, but she has yet to get through to anyone. "Most of the companies that we are calling have voice mail that's filled up or have not returned calls."

If you know of any snow removal contractors, plow companies or neighbors with snow removal equiptment who have availability, please post contact information at the bottom of this article.

This is a huge problem....no just for seniors, but handicap, out-of-town owners, etc...the few contractors that do residential property snow removal have so many clients to help that they can not get to each party in a timely manner. When we were kids growing up in the area ,it was an opportunity to generate some income but it seems this generation is differant. In the 9 years we've had our property in Fair Haven, only one teenager has knocked on our door. WE WOULD LOVE TO HIRE A LOCAL TEENAGER/PERSON TO HELP US REMOVE OUR SNOW! Perhaps a YES (YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICE) to give kids a place to look for ways to generate income and learn an important lesson in "work ethic" at an early age....
