Sandy Hook made the list, barely; but, for the second year in a row, The Wildwoods have taken top honors in the NJ Sea Grant Consortium's Top Ten Beaches poll.
In addition to being voted number one overall, The Wildwoods were also the winner in all three categories — family vacation, day trip and ecotourism.
The Winners:
- The Wildwoods
- Long Beach Island
- Ocean City
- Sea Isle City
- Cape May
- Asbury Park
- Seaside Heights
- Island Beach State Park/Berkeley Township
- Cape May Point
- Sandy Hook
Asbury Park, which was voted sixth overall, was also voted the best beach in Monmouth County.
The Wildwoods won for Cape May County while Brigantine and Long Beach Island won for Atlantic and Ocean counties respectively.
Each year, the NJ Sea Grant Consortium and The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey Coastal Research Center conducts the poll, asking residents and visitors to rate New Jersey beaches.
The results are traditionally announced in the days before Memorial Day, the unofficial start to the summer season.
