A Rumson golfer has scored a PGA championship victory.

Last week, local PGA professional Brian Gaffney, with Rumson Country Club, captured the New Jersey PGA Professional Championship — the NJ PGA Section’s most prestigious Major Championship — Sept. 13 at the Arcola Country Club in Paramus.

Recognized as one of the most accomplished PGA professionals in the New Jersey section, this is Brian's first New Jersey PGA Professional Championship victory. 

Gaffney finished the 54-hole event at 5-under par, winning the tournament by two strokes.

He will lead a group of 12 NJ PGA professionals who have qualified for the 2013 PGA Professional National Championship to be held next June at Sunriver Resort, Oregon.
