Rumson Man Indicted on Child Pornography Charges

A Rumson man has been indicted on child pornography possession and related charges stemming from incidents spanning a two-year period, from 2009 to 2011.
Matthew Marass, 26, of 18 Forrest Ave., allegedly knowingly possessed, between July 16, 2009 and April 15 2011, in Rumson, "photograph(s), film, videotape, computer program or file, video game or any other reproduction or reconstruction which depicts a child engaging in a prohibited sexual act or in the simulation of such an act," according to the indictment from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
Marass also allegedly "knowingly received" the pornography for the purpose of selling, "procuring, manufacturing, giving, providing, lending, trading, mailing, delivering, transferring, publishing" or "offering or agreeing to offer (it), through any means" between Feb. 16 and April 15, 2011, the indictment said.

He is charged with endagering the welfare of a child/possession of child pornography, a fourth-degree crime, and distribution of child pornography, also a child endangerment charge and a second-degree crime.
An indictment represents formal charges handed down by a grand jury and does not indicate a conviction.
