Lifetime Rumsonite 'Pete the Painter' Catanzariti Dies at 79
Catanzariti died on Sunday. Services begin Wednesday.
Rumson native Peter T. Catanzariti, 79, known as "Pete the Painter" died on Sunday, March 3, at Chapin Hill in Red Bank.
A lifetime Rumson resident and self-employed house painter, Catanzariti served in the United States Air Force as an air craft mechanic in the Korean War, according to his obituary on legacy.com.
He was a member of the American Legion Post, Highlands, enjoyed baseball, poker and races at Monmouth Park, and was known as a Yankees fan, it said.
Catanzariti is predeceased by: his companion, Mary G. Donnelly; his parents, Luigi Catanzariti and Mary Howard and his sister, Phyllis Catanzariti.
Surviving are: his daughter, Caroline Connelly, of Little Silver; his brother, Frank Catanzariti, of Maryland; his three grandchildren, Lauren, Matthew and Eliza; a nephew, Dr. Frank Catanzariti Jr.; a niece, Penny Catanzariti and his three great nephews, Jason, Brandon and Vincent Catanzariti.
Visitation will be held at John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, on Wednesday, March 6, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with a service at 7 p.m., according to the funeral home Web site.
"Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chapin Hill Activities Department, 100 Chapin Avenue, Red Bank NJ 07701," according to the site. "Please visit Peter's memorial website available at www.johnedayfuneralhome.com."
