NJ Transit Substitute: Bus and Ferry Service for NYC Commuters
Information regarding bus pick-up and drop-off for commuters, as well as information regarding a new ferry from Hoboken to midtown NYC
NJ Transit will continue to offer emergency buses for New York City commuters as crews work to repair damage to some bridges and rail lines, according to spokeswoman Nancy Snyder.
Emergency buses will operate inbound from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and will return commuters from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The bus and ferry service listed in the chart below is free.

Ferries from Liberty State Park also operate for free between 1 and 2 p.m., however buses will not be available at that time from the original destinations listed above.
NJ Transit has also established a round-trip ferry service between Hoboken Terminal and Pier 79 on West 39th Street in Midtown Manhattan with BillyBey Ferry.
The round-trip ticket costs $10, Snyder explained. A ticketbooth is operating at Hoboken Terminal for this specific service. Customers using the Hoboken-Midtown ferry line can also access the NY Waterway shuttle buses for free.
There is no estimated restoration date for the NJ Transit rails. According to Snyder, the lines along the shore and in Morris County sustained extensive damage.
"We're working around the clock to restore the service," she said.

I know from readers that this is a tremendous added stress for those recovering from the flood. It's hard enough to get your head in the work game w when your home is torn up.

Thank you NJ Transit for offering these services, and especially for making the buses free. I hate taking the bus and cannot wait until the train is back, but at least its convenient at the PNC.
