NJ Insiders Not Sure Ryan a Better Pick Than Christie

Republicans and Democrats agree, however, Paul Ryan's selection will galvanize their state parties, according to a Patch flash poll.

New Jersey Republican and Democratic insiders believe Mitt Romney's VP pick will galvanize each of their parties, but they're divided whether Paul Ryan is a better choice than Chris Christie.

Of the 24 Republican respondents to Patch's flash poll this weekend, 25 percent strongly agree and 25 percent strongly disagree with the statement, "Paul Ryan is a stronger VP candidate than Chris Christie would have been." Nearly 17 percent said they somewhat agreed with the statement, while 12.5 percent somewhat disagreed and 20.8 percent were not sure.

However, more than 50 percent of the 27 Democratic respondents either strongly agreed or somewhat agreed that Ryan was the better choice, while 18.5 percent somewhat disagreed and 11.1 percent strongly disagreed.

While one GOP respondent said, "Glad C.C. Isnt the selection," another Republican said the New Jersey governor and Wisconsin congressman share similar ideas.

"I think supporters of Christie's reforms will welcome Ryan on the ticket," the respondent said. "He's Christie's ideological first cousin."

Republicans and Democrats agreed that the selection of Ryan will fortify the bases of each party.

Half of the GOP respondents strongly agreed with the statement, "Mitt Romney's decision to choose Paul Ryan as his VP candidate will galvanize New Jersey Republicans." Another 25 percent somewhat agreed with the statement, while 12.5 percent somewhat disagreed and 4.2 percent strongly disagreed.

Democratic respondents were unsure if New Jersey Republicans would get behind Ryan's selection, with more than 25 percent saying they somewhat agree and the same amount saying they somewhat disagree.

"Ryan galvanizes the conservative base of the Republican Party," one GOP respondent said. "He brings a wealth of knowledge with regard to economic matters and helps define the economy as the number one issue in this election."

Almost half of Democratic respondents somewhat agreed and another 30 percent strongly agreed that Ryan as the VP candidate will galvanize New Jersey Democrats.

About 17 percent of the Republicans strongly agreed and 37.5 percent somewhat agreed that Ryan would galvanize New Jersey Democrats.

Nearly all Democratic respondents either strongly agreed or somewhat agreed with the statement, "Now that Ryan is on the ticket, New Jersey Democrats can win by running against Ryan's existing budget plans and particularly his proposal for Medicare."

However, nearly 40 percent of Republicans strongly disagreed with the statement.

"The Democratic Party needs to go after both Romney and Ryan for what they are, killers of Social Security and Medicare, they both believe Americans should 'work until they die,'" one Democratic respondent said.

More than 85 percent of Democratic respondents either strongly agreed or somewhat agreed that Romney's "decision to choose Paul Ryan as his VP candidate will help the Obama-Biden campaign win the votes of senior citizens in New Jersey."

One Democrat said Ryan's selection "presents voters in NJ with the starkest contrast between governing philosophies that they have faced in many years. Ryan makes Ronald Reagan look like a liberal."

What other Democratic respondents are saying about Ryan:

"Romney loses many independent voters due to the already conservative nature of Romney's campaign. It's now even more conservative."

"It will get Tea Party Conservatives, who have been cool to Romney so far, strongly behind him."

"The biggest advantage is they now have a candidate who has at least the reputation of being a fighter, a quality Romney lacks."

What Republican respondents are saying about Ryan:

"Ryan is a serious Congressman for serious times. His solutions are grounded in reality and with comprehensive detail. He is also a nice person who is able to congenially put forth challenging ideas. He is not a "caricature politician" full of sound bites, but rather real ideas and solutions. He is a Catholic and given Obama administrations attacks on religious freedom, this should be noted."

"Ryan is fiscally conservative, smart and energetic—Romney chose well."

"I have not yet discovered a positive for Romney's decision."

"As New Jerseyans already know, it all about the high taxes and no job. Ryan knows that government spending at all level must get under control! He is dedicated to solving the problem and will get the taxes under control, the economy going and jobs rolling again in the USA."

Earlier this summer, Patch invited Democratic and Republican state leaders to participate in regular surveys about their thoughts on national and statewide issues. These leaders include state Senators, mayors, town council members and local party chairs. To become an insider, email Mike Pignataro at mike@patch.com

Romney thinks it's humane to drive with a dog on the roof of a car and Ryan thinks Bow hunting, letting an animal bleed to death, is humane. Who in the world are these people?

At least as far as we know, Christie is only mean to his own constituents.

Obama eats dog... Umm.. My dog would rather ride in a cage on the car roof then be eaten. Bow hunters make every effort to track a wounded deer to end it's suffering. They prefer a clean kill. PS: I hate hunting but I support Paul Ryan's right to hunt!

And you know personally that when you bow hunt, the animal bleeds to death? It's the same as if shot, actually usually faster. The tip has wings. No polution from the bullets either. I thought Christie was only mean to glutons? But what do I know, I live in Arizona where the border is safer than it's been in years.....my fat @$$ Obama is running this country into the ground. He hates the military except to pin medals in front of the press. He wants to crush the middle class to live like Europe. Do you all KNOW how modestly people there live? It's nothing, nothing like we have. And freedom? Say goodbye, we are losing our rights while they argue about stupid crap like dogs on car roofs ten years ago..... Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain Dorothy...

The Darfur genocide was responsible for about 3 million more deaths and Bush, when asked, did not even know that it was in Africa. He was all over putting an end to that. LOL

They are republicans, that says it all. After reading the comments from republicans, I'm constantly amazed how united they are in their ignorance. Comparing a parent feeding their child dog meat, and then blaming the child for it is laughable.
An adult strapping his dog to the roof of a car, is just plain cruel, and you can't sugar coat it. Mittens is so out of touch and awkward around regular people, he is painful to watch. And by the way, dying from a razor sharp arrow wound can't be considered humane, even using republican logic.

How one treats or mistreats animals shows their true character. Hey gentile, I can already say I know what your true character is. I know all about hypocrites who go to church on Sunday and think that all their sinning the rest of the week will we washed away with one visit.

Hey, Bucky poopy pants - Who above the age of 5 uses that expression? I'm self-employed. I don't have to worry about losing my job. My worst year financially was when Bush was still in office. Gentile's memory is fading fast. He asked if I was better off 4 years ago (that would be under Bush not Obama) No - 2008 was bad and Bush was still in office. Want to blame Obama for that?

Mr. G., you seem to know more about the housewives, Snooki or a Kardashian than I do. I don't watch any of that garbage, I watch news and I read books like Do Not Ask What Good we do, or Blown for Good: Behind the Iron Curtain of Scientology, The Path to Power

BTW, Mormonism is a cult just like Scientology.

Gentile, Bush's wars and failed policies created the deficit and the recession. Who's the dummy? There is none so blind as those that will not see.

THE Obama's disdain for veteran's and the military showed itself last Memorial Day, when, for the first time, and in an election year, he decided to go the the Viet Nam Memorial. Great. Except that with all his whoopty-doo, guests, press, and secret service, he kept out the families, veterans, soldiers, riders, and all the others who waited for hours to get to the memorial that day. They blocked it off for THE Obama, and chosen guests ONLY.

Home values will soar due to the influx of workers needed to support the construction and operation of offshore facilities. Tourism and casino gambling will thrive in conjunction with that influx. Oil and gas platforms would serve as beneficial habitats for commercially important fish populations such as cod and other species.

Drilling for oil off the Jersey Shore won't lower gasoline prices because demand is growing in developing countries faster than you can find new oil. We should be focusing on Conservation, Wind and Solar which are coming down in price. It is more effective for the gov't to subsidize Alternative energy than to spend billions cleaning up anoher oil spill.

Everyone wants a cheap fix, and NObody wants it next to them. The pipe line from Canada would have helped. Drilling in Alaska would have helped. Not exporting the rich oil from private wells in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico would help. Stop giving billions to Israel that they use for weapons against the countries that sell us oil. Stop crooked politicians with lined pockets.(Good luck on that) How about term limits on politicians....that's the real answer. The lifers have decades old contacts to people they shouldn't. Offshore drilling is so far out you can't even see it. The real issue is how is it regulated, and is someone honest watching that they are doing it right. Unlike in the Gulf.

If demand is growing for gas how are we lowering our dependency or was that just fancy campaign rhetoric? Where's the financial analysis of what offshore drilling will or won't do? Then we can have an intelligent discussion.

No worries, if they catch you, you visit your relatives in Mexico on the US dime and then sneak back. And now all you do is pretend you came before you were 6 and graduated high school, and they don't even send you back. You get free college instead of the white kids! Thanks Obama!

Obama is up against the wall! Romney and Ryan are articulate and speak the truth. They will not lie to the public just to get your vote. It may not be pleasant to hear, but it will be the truth. Obama will lie, get others to do his dirty work, example: Harry Reid, obamas super pac, then obama and campaign denies knowing about it. Now instead of "gutter" campaigning, obama will have to run on his disasterous record. This should be good! Oh according to a journalist in iowa, obama's rally last night was only half full. Is the " thrill" gone?

Well the London Olympics came off without a hitch despite Mormon Romney screaming terrorists are in the shadows. He cannot get anything right. Two weeks ago the UK Daily Telegraph wrote, “Romney told NBC News he saw “a few things that were disconcerting” about London’s preparations. “The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, supposed strike of immigration and customs officials, that obviously is not something which is encouraging,” he said.”
Well he was big time wrong – again.
With the republicans and democrats nominating idiots from the far corners – right or left, this country is headed to hell in a hand basket. We should be looking at moderates for president - they are the only ones with their heads screwed on right. And religion belongs at church not at the voting booth. No one wants god’s finger on the button if atomic bombs are incoming. You cannot have the whole country turn its collective cheek - besides god does not bless countries so America is not blessed.

Has shut alot of oil drilling platforms off louisiana and gulf coast. But invested millions in brasils off coast drilling venture. Mr. Soros has invested his company in this. You might forget about the pipeline from canada, he is stonewalling that to apease his "green" donaters. As for natural gas..he is against fracking. The only energy he wants is wind & fossil fuels. Thats great but reality is the country cannot run on them alone. His policies have hurt families. Time to drill, frack and mine in a responsible way and create jobs.

Question is will those affected still offer their undying loyalty to Democrats? Obama has no plan to create jobs. The debt is what ruins companies, individuals and our government. He passed a stimulus bill promising unemployment would not go above 8%. Yeah, that worked out! Obamacare passed because of closed door backroom deals made with Dems. Then we have the auto union bigwig Trumka that doubles as a big obama supporter. The Volt its a big seller (LOL). there's GE's EMMELT that closed a plant or two and now outsources. But hey, Obama rewarded him with being on his "JOBS COMMITTEE", which he had no time to meet with because he had 205 fundraisers to tend to since keeping his job is more important. So 2 yrs and trillions in debt, dem house and senate, and he failed to pass a Dem budget. Not even the Dems voted for obamas budget plan. What does that say? It was awful! Time for a PRESIDENT that wants to fix the economy, bring businesses back to the US, control the deficit, control the border. No more blame games or excuses, its getting old!

Everything is based on who has more money to buy everyone off and the influence to get away with everything. The great people of this country I think realizes this. I hope to be out of NJ very soon. It doesn't matter who the VP candidate is, because Mittens Romney is an absolutely dreadful Presidential candidate. Who on earth thought that a trust fund baby, someone who got even richer by outsourcing jobs, was an abysmal failure as Governor who served only one term and had approval numbers in the low 30s before getting out of Dodge and avoiding an embarrassing defeat, and the author of the most controversial piece of legislation from this administration (Obamacare = Nationalized Romneycare) would make a great leader of this country? It's as if we've entered Bizarro World, thinking that "community organizers" and people who have been miserable failures at just about everything are people worthy of being elected to important office. And we wonder why this nation has been rapidly moving downhill - we're too busy watching Jersey Shore and The Kardashians to properly vet the candidates and truly understand who and what we're voting for. Of course, we haven't even gotten into Mittens' startling lack of a platform (despite running for five years, with no job to take up his time) and the fact that he's ready to bury us under more debt to pay for an even more interventionist foreign policy and to continue the 40 year failure that is the "war on drugs". The GOP is going to lose (again) this year, and they're going to deserve it. They had the ideal candidate in Ron Paul who does well with voting bases that we needed, but they decided to go with the special interest hack instead.

Look, just because I criticize one out of touch crony capitalist doesn't mean I approve of the other. Whether it's the Anointed One or Mittens, the end result will be the same: more debt, more inflation, more bailouts, more expensive health insurance, more unemployment and less freedom. Both have received far too many advantages in their lives, and thus cannot even begin to comprehend the daily struggles that most people go through. Mittens in particular was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and sound absolutely ridiculous every time he tries to pass himself off as a common man. I blame the electorate for not placing more importance on the election of quality candidates for office. We keep electing people who look out for Goldman Sachs and their other fundraisers before doing what's best for the country. At least Ron Paul is his own man and answers to absolutely no one except the people ... ditto for Gary Johnson and Buddy Roemer, both of whom also would have been significant improvements over either of these two losers. When are people going to realize that you need to place less emphasis on party affiliation and campaign rhetoric, and more on public service records and who is funding the campaigns? It shouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a candidate who receives individual donation exclusively is far more likely to work for us than someone who receives millions of dollars from Wall Street, insurance companies, law firms, and the like.

Yes, Gov. Christie tells the truth ... like running commercials saying that he hasn't raised taxes. I don't know what he calles tolls (both Port Authority & Turnpike Authority), a new online sales tax, confiscating dormant gift cards, yellow light scameras, and property taxes, but they're all new or pre-existing taxes that have gone up which he is either directly or indirectly responsible for. Unfortunately, he has turned out to be every bit as liberal as his former boss, George W. Bush, who helped create the pickle we're in now and tarnished the reputation of the GOP with his terrible policies. I know this state would have been far better off with a true conservative, legitimate businessman, and taxpayer advocate leading us like Steve Lonegan. Hopefully we get one more chance to correct this mistake next year, but I think New Jersey voters will screw it up again.

simpletruth: What Rand Paul did was about his own political future. Sometimes you have to do things like that if you have any aspirations of higher office, as I imagine he does. He initially endorsed his father, and only endorsed Romney after it became clear that he would not win enough votes in the primaries, where he was substantially underfunded. You can say Romney gave away his inheritance, but he still enjoyed an upper class upbringing, private school, a Harvard education, and other benefits that were made possible by his family's wealth and connections. I don't begrudge the man his success, but the fact remains that he is not truly self-made, unlike Ron Paul, Gary Johnson, and Buddy Roemer. However, I am less troubled by that than I am by his policies: compelling people to buy health insurance (expanding government influence over health care has only made it more expensive, as numerous studies have shown), dozens of tax hikes, gun control laws, support for RGGI even if it was eventually withdrawn (RGGI = regional Cap & Trade), and other things that made him a highly unpopular Governor and turned the office over to Democrats after 16 years of GOP control. As for the national stage: how are we to afford the man's foreign policy, war on drugs, and other spending plans ... he doesn't realize just how dire our $15 trillion (and growing) debt burden is. The man epitomizes the status quo - this is reflected in his platform. Nothing in this country will improve on his watch.

With in 2 years they are paid back what they put in to it. So who pays for all the other years they live....I know some teachers that lived to be 100 years old. Forget about the Administrators, same thing but it is with a lot more money. Some of them are getting pensions over $140,000 a year, with in a year in half they have collected what they put into it and they will continue to get that $140,000 a year for the rest of their lives. Pretty great deal... I will give the State of NJ $70,000 right now and in with two years I will get that back and then they can continue giving me $35,000 a year until I die. Between that and my SS, we can all live like kings and queens. There is senior citizens who have to live on 1,000 month SS and 500.00 dollar pension and you have all these educators getting anywhere from 165,000 to 35,000 a year pension and 1,700 per month SS., you figure that out. NJ is a scam and CC has to get on that real quick. You have these public employee's get free medical for the rest of their life and yearly living salaries of 65,000 to 165,000 a year and they want all us peons to pay for it all. Who is living on 20,000 year while we have to pay for all the increases every year to pay to keep these public workers. They are worse than welfare residents.

I read about the candidates and the issues, not listen to sound bites, and my half wit neighbors. Voting should be taken seriously, but it's not. Standing in the booth and pulling all the same levers down the party line every single election, shows not only you are one of the herd, but shouldn't bother coming to the dance. As long as WE allow politicians to sit on their backsides for decades, making decisions to favor themselves instead of us, then we, the sheep, deserve what they give us. We are losing our freedoms, and becoming a global economy. Obama took us many steps closer. On his second term, the gloves will come off, and we will see just how far left he is. Yet, we discuss crap like dogs on the roof, what schools, what's in my backyard. The middle class is being crushed by removing it's hard earned worth. Our homes, our savings, and our rights. Romney is middle of the road. So was McCain. That's all they'll let us have. Instead of sending our kids to college, many need to go to tech school. Instead of buying very many things, we need to buy less, and buy American. No, BMW's, Honda's.... Greed and Glutony starts in local government and works it's way up, unions are way past their prime. You are aware that aggressive union busting has been going on for over 30 years in this country, are you not? Try to form a union at Walmart or Target and you will be fired on some trumped up charges. I get it, you hate unions and you want to ban unions....sounds fascistic to me. Only 11.8% of the US workforce is unionized, that's not some accident, the union busting has been thorough and effecient for over 30 years because so many Americans have bought into the well funded anti-union propaganda. Sweden has a 70%+ unionization rate and their economy is flourishing, in good shape with much less unemployment than the US. Germany works with its unions, it's also doing fine but in the US it's hate the unions day every day and it's so sad that so many ordinary Americans think that unions are their enemy. Quite the opposite. The so called "right to work states" have practically banned unions or made it almost impossible to form unions and yet that's not enough for the rabid union haters. They are really the right to work for LESS states.

Unions are actually gone because they happened to be in industries that got killed by cheap foreign competition.

Unions jobs didn't disappear because those workers wanted to make $80,000 and some guy in China wanted $35,000. They went away because a union guy wanted $40,000 and the Chinese guy wanted $3.25. It's math. And it's critical to pricing things as low as the US consumer demands.

But every time I hear someone whine about their pay and benefits, I ask myself...why didn't that person form a union? Or just stop whining?

Both Christie & Cuomo signed off on them last August - hikes that will come out to an 87.5% increase over the previous rate. This is just downright draconian. Instead of placing a heavier burden on us, maybe Christie shouldn't have appointed his unqualified lawyer friends David Samson and Bill Baroni to leadership positions over there. Yes, I know - Democrats are just as guilty of doing it as well. The Port & Turnpike Authorities are highly wasteful patronage pits that should have been shut down a long time ago.

I listen to both arguments as well. In reading some of the Patch political blogs, it seems as though too many Patch readers are believing what they read on the internet and then repeating it as fact is irresponsible. Frontline is one example of a program that will express flaws or mistakes in both parties or any given politician. There have been many episodes that did not put the Obama Administration in a good light.

And yet you are not bothered by more tax beaks for the rich. More tax breaks, sweetheart deals and tax abatements for Walmart, the Revel Resorts Casino and other giant corporations in NJ. When the rich and the giant corporations do not pay their fair share in taxes, then guess who has to make up the difference. Of course the media and the politicians are quiet about what is really going on. It's much easier to foment class warfare against those super rich public employees with their yachts, 4 homes and 3 BMWs. Dupe the middle class to fight against each other while the one percent go laughing all the way to the banks in the Cayman Islands and Switzerland. Free sheet, if you hate your job so much, why don't you look for a job with better benefits instead of crying like a little baby. Remember, personal responsibility, the GOP is always talking about personal responsibility. Find a better job and stop blaming public employees for your failings.

Just love everybody who seems to feel it's a Union's problem that has caused most the downfall of the economy. Try GREED, GREED and more GREED!!!!! The public employee works just as hard as anybody else and when they retire they don't make the kind of money people think. They only make an average of their last 5 years of their salary, which equates to about half of what they made while they worked. They contribute to their pension via payroll taxes and state taxes. Yes, the public employee pays taxes just like a private sector employee. Also, they now contribute more to their healthcare than ever before. The economy is not great and they realize this. They are not GREEDY like the rich, they just want to work and earn a fair wage to raise a family just like every other middle class worker. Joe R - well said, love your comment!!!

Compared to the majority of those holding office, he is on the poorer end. When you investigate how his wealth was made, it was gained through investments, just like Romney. I guess he just didn't get the same investment opportunities that Romney had.

Obama refuses to release any information about his college years. What is he hiding? We know he signed a false statement when he applied to the bar after getting his law degree.

Obama LIED when he claimed he did not have any alias name(s). It is a FACT he was known as "Barry Soetoro" when he attended a Muslim madras in Indonesia. The strange thing is that under Indonesian law, you MUST be a citizen to attend such a school.

If that is the case, then Obama was a DUAL CITIZEN when his mother married he second husband, Lolo Soetoro. His step-father was actual COLONEL Soetoro of the Indonesian Army. Soetoro was recalled to Indonesia in 1965 to serve as a senior army officer and assist General Suharto and the CIA in the bloody overthrow of President Sukarno. This is a documented fact.

i,ll answer the imposter spooner first. the same amount of jobs were lost at solyndra as the other solar company that went bankrupt once the chinese started selling solar panels for 30% under market price. by the way that other company was given a grant by romney as gov so i guess it makes romney as much as a hypocrite as berkely lifer who uses racist terms like ' long legged mac daddy" while pretending that a biden comment about wall st and chains is upsetting him. as for gaffes i think you should read romney's " how i spent my summer vacation" where in one week he insults our biggest ally the british, then he goes to a holy site in poland and says "for christ sakes you assh##es this is a holy site. next he goes to israel where he stuck a fortune from a fortune cookie into the wailing wall and basically began to destabilize the middle east with his comments which should come in handy since he wants to send troops back to iraq then start a war with iran while ryan wants to cancel an exit from afghanistan but its always amazing when those like berkely lifeless , lunkhead i mean jarhead and johnny taxpayer fight so hard for millionaires and billionaires like the koch bros and sheldon addelson who paul ryan just went to kiss his ring instead of the middle class. if it was a lifeboat to save the wealthy on board these bozos would keep mentioning about the middle class passengers " that guy isnt looking too well maybe we should toss him over the side" .

US put a tariff on imported aluminum. Of course, finished products made of aluminum, like solar panels, were exempt. That killed the US solar industry the second it happened. It was move to China or die.

Now, people like Spooner could spin a great yarn about that - it was a stupid decision they could hang on the President and the Congress. But Spooner is lazy. And un-serious. Actually, they are just parroting numbers without any context. The reason the impact if higher ($-wise) in states like NJ and CT and CA and lower in MS and TN is because the former are rich and the latter are poor.

Every taxpayer in NJ won't get hit with $5k, which is what they'd like you to believe. Because they are lazy.

Jamie Lee Curtis, read the propaganda in "Dreams of my Father". Then read about Obama's cocaine use in NYC and pot smoking in Hawaii. Obama even read for the audiobook, so you can hear this and other wonderful things in his own voice.
George Bush was in the Texas National Guard. Washington was a Colonel in Virginia before he became the Commander of the Continental Army. Those are relevant to the discussion? Take off your tin foil helmet and think for yourself. I suggest some education, so you can argue with facts, learn proper grammar and syntax, and have clear, well-thought out sentences. Let's look at your post. Obama is a proper noun - the first letter is capitalized. Also for Harvard, George Bush, North Carolina, and Viet Cong. See? This is grade school level writing. To where do I send the bill?

The one about him using it for attending Muslim school is new to me. Check your information, it's all bunk. Although I doubt that you would believe anything other than what fits in your box.

Just a question to the posters that repeat "facts" from unverified sources....When Obama was announced as the Democratic Nominee, I began receiving emails from friends on articles about Barack Obama, some negative and some positive. In the beginning my Republican friends would end their emails with "I verified this on Snopes"...and that tagline would seal the deal for those Republicans. Now it appears as though no one is attempting to verify anything. For fun....I entered "Barry Soetoro" and every email that popped up was shown to be false by Snopes.
So nothing is "verified" anymore? Don't you want to lend a ounce of credence to your ramblings? Lie to me, tell me it was verified by "Christians for a Free America", something....lol

One of these days everyone will come to the realization that both parties are screwing us and start voting accordingly. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll have a country left by that point. How delusional are we to think that someone who was a miserable failure as Governor (Obamacare inventor, tax hiker, 34% job approval, would have lost by double digits if he sought a second term) will be the savior of the nation. Then of course, there's all the foolish people who bought into all the mindless "Hope And Change" malarkey as well. Ignorant voters are every bit as responsible for this nation's troubles as the terrible people they elect to represent us.

Ignorant voters are 100% responsible. Unfortunately, America has become a two party system and without picking the lesser of two evils, I would be wasting my vote. I look at the parties and decide what party will currently serve my family best. I do believe that some individuals are better served voting one way than the other.

Unfunded tax breaks for the wealthy 1% by George Bush added billions of dollars to the national deficit. Several years of Bush's misguided Iraq war added billions more. Then Bush wanted a multi-billion-dollar bail-out of the financial crooks -- with no strings attached -- in the fall of 2008. (I wonder why Faux News never mentions those facts?)

Then the obstructionist Republicans in Congress said NO to every effort to revive the economy. Their publicly avowed goal isn't the good of the USA, but merely to defeat Obama. Millionaires aren't suffering in the Bush-caused recession, but the GOP still wants more tax breaks for them.

Sorry, George -- but Obama's mother was MARRIED to the Indonesian named Lolo Soetoro.

Soetoro was an officer in the Indonesian Army -- and the law over there is very explicit -- only Indonesian CITIZENS may attend public schools.

This means that Obama/Soetoro was the aopted SON of Lolo and that means he was an Indonesian CITIZEN.

I'm not making this up -- the information can be easily looked up.

Your personal attacks against me indicate you AGREE Obama attended a Muslim school under the name of Barry Soretoro. The actual school record book that has been published in newspapers and magazine has been deemed 100% genuine.

When Muslims are called to their daily prayer, they have specific words they must recite. Here are the first few lines of the Muslim call to prayer state. This is a statement of fact and cannot be refuted.

Obama made the call to get bin laden. Much as there are those who refuse to give him credit, they are the same who probably crucified Jimmy Carter for his debacle. That could have happened with bin laden. IT DIDN'T! Get over it.

@Laura. Amen! Even the Republican Party is admitting Dubya was a HUGE MESS. Currently they are running ads saying "Yes, Obama inherited a mess 3 1.2 years ago but..." The republicans under the thumbs of the right proved they are too inept to run this country. And they continue to stall progress in both houses.

The Republican Party has been kidnapped by right wing religious fascists who are full of hatred and having not a clue. Elect Mormon Romney and we will be at war with Iran in less than two years.

I do not like Obama but I will give him credit for Health Care reform and ending Don't Ask. The right wingers criticize Obama for health care yet they have proposed absolutely zilch. Can you believe it that they prefer health care as it is? Now that is stupid. If they don't like Obama care modeled after Romney Care, and then come up with improvements. No one except those who claim god is on their side wants to go back to our WAY TOO EXPENSIVE Medieval Health Care system.

I am a republican who wants the party to go back to being moderate – the way it was before Reagan. There is no way I want the right wing religious folks running the country. They all want to bring the "Ends of Times" to today. The republicans need to give the boot to the religious fruitcakes.

I disagree with the Republican Party only over the religious right shoving their limited and misunderstood view of god – they are the stupidest most backward people of the earth. Their brethren are destroying the Middle East. God should never rule a country. Throw out the nutty bible thumpers and Baptist soothsayers and assorted other likeminded riffraff and you have a good party.
Richard Nixon, despite the left's characterization, was a very good president. Bush I was not bad either. He knew not to go to Baghdad. His stupid son did not. And the party agrees, their current ads admit that Obama inherited a mess from Dubya. They even do not want Dubya and Cheney at the convention. LOL!

First President to have a social security number from a state he has never lived in.  First President to preside over a cut to the credit-rating of the United States  First President to violate the War Powers Act.  First President to be held in contempt of court for illegally obstructing oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico .  First President to require all Americans to purchase a product from a third party.  First President to spend a trillion dollars on 'shovel-ready' jobs when there was no such thing as 'shovel-ready' jobs.  First President to abrogate bankruptcy law to turn over control of companies to his union supporters.

Obama should be thrown out of office for the fact alone. I spent time with men who fought in the Pacific Campaign in WWII. They loathe Obama. The overhwhelming opinion was that he spat on the graves of the thousands of men who died at the hands of the merciless Imperial Japanese.

Obama "apologized" for America? There are thousands of men who died in Pearl Harbor -- how about someone "apologize" for that????

Then he was the First President to tell the members of the military that THEY were UNPATRIOTIC for balking at the last suggestion.  First President to side with a foreign nation over one of the American 50 states ( Mexico vs Arizona ).  How is this hope and change working out for you?
