Looking on a Lighter Side of Power Loss
Fair Haven family erects sign for a little humor
While some in Fair Haven are now just plain giddy with the good news of power restoration last night, most of the borough is now on day 10 without and growing more weary by the minute.
The good news is that help is definitely out there and on the way. Mayor Ben Lucarelli last night said that there are two full crews each working on the two circuits in the borough. The substation has been engergized and a lot of trees have been cleared off wires, which, he had said, was a primary issue to tackle before any power restoration could take place. And the latest wave of bad weather did not help.
In the meantime, though, now faced with slushy snowfall from yesterday's Nor'easter passing through and temperatures dipping lower and lower, one family that could still see their breath in the house decided to have a little fun and try to cheer other residents and passersby up in the mix.
The Hydukes, at River Road and Lincoln Avenue, erected a sign on their front lawn that sums up the sentiment in a Christmas letter to JCP&L ... "Dear JCP&L, All I want for Xmas is ... my power back."
"It’s getting a lot of honks, waves, and thumbs up!" Greg Hyduke said in an email to Patch. "It sums up the sentiments of a lot of us greeted by a blanket of snow and still no power this morning …"

Is that what we are reduced to? I think we can be better than that. We are all in this together.
