These photos are just astonishingly sad to see. Sea Bright was as much a part of my childhood as Rumson was. It is heartbreaking to realize the difficulties you all must be going through. Please know that those of us who no longer live there are so very devastated by your great losses.

I've seen the same destruction in NC, FL, and AL, yet some keep building a few feet above sea level.

Oh, SeaBright wonderful town of my youth and I still work near there, still visit often. That little gem will be back, just like in 1992. Prayers for the residents and business owners who lost so much.

Heartbreaking

Like alot of the people that grew up there,Istill to this day call sea bright my home town,Iknow alot of people there and Ihave seen some of their homes in the pics. My heart is sadden,but I know with no dought they will rebuild.

My first "real Job" as a Life Guard was at Sea Bright Beach Club, so many wonderful memories of growing up there...My "first LEGAL beer at Sullivan's...My prayers go out to those who will rebuild and have always loved the shore.

i am broken hearted watching the devastation unfold. all of us who grew up in the area have salt water in our veins and the strength of the atlantic ocean in our spirits.

My sister works for the town and was tasked with taking pictures to document the damages for the town property the day after the storm. She is a amateur photographer and took some heartwrenching pics of which I made a video with a very appropriate soundtrack. So many locals are without housing. Several local Realtors are operating on a VOLUNTEER basis out of Bingham Hall in Rumson trying to place displaced families in short-term rentals.

Do you have a viable short-term rental property for a displaced family? Perhaps you know of one? Please think about any vacant homes in your neighborhood that are NOT listed with a Realtor. (Vacation type homes that are not occupied on a regular basis, condos/townhomes, carriage homes). We DO already have access to homes that are listed with a Realtor but they are renting quickly!

Needy families are looking for 2-6 month short-term rental properties. Families with dogs are having a particularly difficult time.

Your situation sounds perfect. There are still so many displaced - trying to figure out where to go and how to afford it. If you could please go on to the website and fill out the "Add a rental" form, that would be the best way to get the details to me. Some folks are just offering up housing (not necessarily "rental"). Had wedding planned for June 2013 at Merrimakers. Due to Sandy that's no longer possible. I've been trying to get my deposit back to no avail. Has anyone gotten their money back? I need help.

Just saw these posts about Merri Maker's. I am also a displaced Merri Maker's bride from Sea Bright and we have not received our deposit back yet. We were going to go to court with them but settled on arbitation. They agreed in writing to refund our money within 60 days and as of today that 60 days is up, and we have not received anything. They are claiming the Sea Bright location is "defunct" and they have no money to pay anyone, unless this insurance money comes through. Lawyers will come next.
