The Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) Boys Soccer lost by one goal against the Holmdel Hornets last night.
Holmdel avenged its only loss of the season by beating RFH 1-0 in double overtime on October 11 for the Shore Conference Class A Central Title.
It was an exciting match filled with both teams having plenty of chances to win. Rumson played their physical style with their amazing throw in’s putting perpetual pressure on the Holmdel Defense.
However, in the end it was Holmdel's Junior sensation Zach Bond ending the match 1 minute into the 2nd overtime.
Nick King slid the ball across to Bond, the center forward, who finished the ball and helped Holmdel secure their second straight Class A central title.
After the celebration on the turf, Coach John Nacarlo said he was proud of how the team came back in the second half. "Rumson is a great team, but we worked hard and pressured them."
RFH is now ranked 6th in their division with a 8-3 season.
