I drove around town all afternoon and saw nothing except a bunch of trucks parked in Fair Haven Fields. Later, they were still there, but they had blinking lights on. Very festive! I remember what it was like to have lights on.....sooooo long ago.

I agree Arlene I saw about 20 power trucks in Rumson Forrestdale school just sitting there doing nothing! There are so many lines down and broken poles. Pick a street and start working on it! The higher ups have completely dropped the ball and have no clue. The workers have no leadership from anybody it seems or they would be out there working. Meanwhile all those trucks sit at idle burning fuel. It's just stupid.

To The Residents of Fair Haven, As of 7:00 PM, power has been restored to approximately 20% of Fair Haven. The effort kicked into high gear around 2:00 PM today when eighty (80) crew men from Alabama Power began actively working to restore power to the residents of Fair Haven. Additionally, we have multiple supervisory employees from JCP&L overseeing the restoration activities. The additional crews that arrived this afternoon are full service crews that are capable of setting poles and wiring, which should help move the process along. They will remain in Fair Haven until power is fully restored, which for most residents should be by tomorrow. If you still have no power by noon tomorrow, please call in your outage to JCP&L at 1-888-544-4877 and be sure to request a ticket number. Regarding the fact that it has taken JCP&L ten days to get these resources to Fair Haven, it is simply not acceptable; however, I assure you that Fair Haven in not alone. The problem is systemic and statewide and I am certain the topic will be retrospectively reviewed, at every level of government. Please know that Mayor Lucarelli and I have used, and will continue to use, every resource we have to try and get JCP&L to restore power to the residents of Fair Haven. Why hasn't our Mayor provided any direct communications? Everything is either a quote from him in the patch or a general update from the town. Thank you Theresa for your response, but quite honestly that should have come much sooner and directly from the Mayor. He should be sending out daily status updates. Is he even here in town?

WAKE UP!!!! This is a total joke. Leadership means speaking more, not less, in times of stress. FH Mayor/council should all be held accountable for lack of communicartion. This is probably the same feeling that most have of their leaders in surrounding towns...we are not unique here people. Local mayors and councils are just not that experienced with handeling diasaters and proper comuinque techinques. They are good with clam bakes and fireman's fairs. I am not one who faults them for the lack of power (that is jokers at JCP&L) who have been selling us all a faulty product which we all bear responsibilty for buying and not questioning. It's time we all wake up! Demand more! Attend Meetings! Hold folks accountable! We all live these lives that we think we are owed something! We shutlle here and there...foucs on mindless things that we think are important and we somhow think government (local, state, fed) will be there with the answers when the the SHTF. We had better wake up and quick. PPR (plan, prepare, be ready). We should all start focusing our attention on infrastructure modernization. We need to make a big stink about this. Put your PDA and Lattes down and start caring. If you don't take an interest no one will. Once power is back on I bet everyone havs turkey day, goes to the mall to buy mindless junk and forgets all about the serious nature of this problem af ageing infrastructure. WAKE UP ! TAKE ACTION! Lets start a grass roots effort. Organize and get teh word out.

Ben, its time to leave your hotel room with the heat, hot water and electric and stand up to your responsibilities. You need to talk honestly to your constituents, you know the people who voted for you and the other guy on Tuesday, and protect their interests, not yours. You gave up your interests when you accepted a public office. You need to provide information, now and throughout the recovery process, in electronic format and paper copy, for those of us who don't have power. This isn't the time to be a politician, but a leader, and the two are mutually exclusive. Put down the remote and show Fair Haven that you can be a leader or we will have a recall vote.

I agree with all of the above regarding the lack of communication and leadership.I have lived in town for over 25 years and been thru far too many power outages.this has been the worst in terms of communication .what is the mayor and council doing.this is unacceptable.there is more info on the patch then on the official town web site.friends in other towns get updates by phone and email.we get nothing.time to elect better leaders.wish election was next Tuesday not last Tuesday.

Day 12 now, and this is utterly rediculous. First they told us Wednesday, then they told us Friday, and now here it is on Friday, and they're saying Sunday now! When's the date after Sunday, thanksgiving? I'll just sit in my 45 degree icebox of a house and hope that something might be done eventually in the meantime.

No power still on Lewis Ln 2:18pm Friday.. On hold for 24 mins now waiting for my 'ticket number' bc I know that's the TICKET to power, right?! Must be!

Heard from reliable source that the power company only came to FH in last two days to begin repairs....

To The Residents of Fair Haven, The most up to date pertinent information regarding power restoration is that Alabama power crews began working Fair Haven this morning and will continue to do so through the evening. They are concentrating on two major circuits that feed the majority of Fair Haven residents and expected to have them restored by the early afternoon. They will then proceed to restore the feeder circuits that lead into neighborhoods. In most cases, these crews will be able do everything necessary to get power to individual homes, including replacing services that have been separated from individual homes. I don’t have a percentage of homes restored estimate as of this time; however, I will ascertain that information later today. A bad mayor can have a large influence on a city within a very short amount of time. When a city population bands together, it can recall a mayor who is found to be corrupt, incompetent or unfit to lead. The trend of recalling wayward mayors in the US has been steady since the 1950s. If you are looking to recall your city mayor, follow these steps to get started.

Enough.. When is the next town meeting? Anyone know? This is crazy. We need to hear a timeline. We have a printed record of the Mayor's statements. This is a public saftey issue. We could have all made other plans... Go to stay with family that have power in other parts of the state or out of state, hotel...whatever. This a failure to serve the people. No one expected the mayor to stand in a bucket truck and fix anything...We just thought he would be honest with the citizens of FH. This is enough.

Throughout this storm I've been getting Twitter updates from JCP&L, specifically access to their restoration reports by town. As of Wed., Nov. 7 two towns in NJ were showing ZERO % restored, Fair Haven and another town. Every other town showed progress, say 20% to 80% restored. I think Rumson was around 20% on Wed. The point is, slow but steady progress was being made throughout the entire JCP&L service area, but why was FH still at ZERO? This supports the reports that JCP&L crews just showed up on Wed, Thurs, Friday of this week, just pick a day, all of it too late. If our grid is so problematic (different voltage or whatever) what is JCP&L going to do to fix it so this doesn't happen again.

According to JCP&L s restoration schedule as of 10:30am today 650+ people in FH would have power today and 54 tomorrow which brought the total to 100% restored. Hoping this is true.

Messages from the mayor that "reasonable" power restoration on Wednesday makes zero sense and was a lie. I want to know the name of the exact person the mayor got that information from at jcp&l. What is the name and phone number of that person. And also who told the mayor that power would be back to the majority if the town today (Friday) by noon? Name and phone number. If you wasted one night in FH BC you hung around on the hope that these promises were true then you lost time to make other plans. I you are lucky enough to have a gen then you paid for gas that you possibly did not need. If you are elderly or disabled or if you have very young children or god forbid a BABY then you should be extra angry. This is unacceptable. Facts were not presented fairly. We are adults. Not children. Tell u what is going on. Now that Borough hall is open they are being guarded with the time line. I called and asked specific questions. You want to see for yourself. Call up an ask one specific q. Ask when exactly the work began to repair lines. Can not tell you. Even though they said on the MSG they put out earlier that work began just today. They realize they have a major PR problem.

I just got a robo call from town saying 65 percent of power restored. Yeah, right! We had just returned from canvassing every street. More like 25 percent tops. I want to understand...is there a reason for the egregious lies, or are our town officials just believing whatver JCP&L feeds them, or is everybody on mushrooms...and can I get some mushrooms as well?

Driving around town after 8 pm last evening, the power situation seemed to be much improved, but that doesn't help those who are still without power over 11 days. But as "Wake Up Call" has consistently stated on this blog, we should not return to the "insignificances" of our daily lives with the glee that we have power, but this should be a call to action that we need to take steps to remove the ineffective and incompetent government of this town and force JCP&L to address the outdated infrastructure that supports this town. Let us begin with our useless Governing Body who could not lead in a time of crisis. This town is not governed as a democracy. We live with the worse abuses of Tammany Hall and Boss Tweed. Have you noticed that most Council members who do not want to continue to serve step down before the completion of their term, and potential replacements are submitted by the Republican Party?. Our Republican dominated Council then makes a selection. Since we rarely have Democratic candidates run (this year was an exception), basically they remain on the Council until they resign and the cycle is repeated. So, the path to "govern" is to "kiss the ring" of the Head of the Republican Party. One person is controlling the destiny of this town and has obviously made poor choices. It's time for the residents of this town to take back control of our government. Let us commit to begin a new today by working together to recall the Mayor and our entire Governing Body.
