Egg Hunting in Rumson, Fair Haven
Fair Haven's event is Saturday and Rumson's is Sunday
Kids in Rumson and Fair Haven just may be singing a familiar song with a loca twist these days. It goes something like this: "Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the local park trails ..."
Yes, this weekend is egg hunt weekend in the Rumson-Fair Haven area. It's a tradition in both towns, and one that always falls on the weekend before Easter.
The festivities take place on Saturday in Fair Haven. Kids and parents interested in hunting some eggs, meeting a special bunny for photos and doing a little pre-holiday socializing should be at McCarter Park at 9 a.m. (SHARP), according the the Fair Haven borough Web site.
Make sure you bring a basket in which to load up the goods.
Then, on Sunday, Rumson will host its 34th annual egg hunt at Victory Park at 1 p.m.
A firehouse siren blast signals the start of the event where children, armed with baskets and bags search for goodies and special hidden Easter eggs that serve as tokens for prizes.
Prizes, such as toys and special chocolate treats, are then given away to those who find the special eggs.

Good luck and, we're guessing that Easter bonnet attire is optional.

This was one of my favourite things when my kids were little. Right after church. But at that time, they put mints around and some eggs. We would take some chocolate in our pockets and drop them in their baskets when they weren't looking. Then shockingly point it out...saying he must have came up behind you and gave you some chocolates because you're special!
How I love and miss those times.
