Not too far from the Rumson-Fair Haven area, down the Garden State Parkway, a healthy newborn baby was delivered early Tuesday morning.

State Police Sgt. Adam Grossman said the baby was successfully delivered in Tinton Falls on the shoulder near mile marker 104 by the northbound Asbury Park Toll Plaza around 2:50 a.m.

Grossman said the baby was delivered before emergency services could arrive.

The mother, father and newborn were transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune by the Tinton Falls EMS and MONOC, Grossman said.
